Straightening Teeth Invisibly

orthodontist offers suresmile aligners

What Is SureSmile®?

Here at Raineri & DiCosimo Orthodontics, our orthodontists offer clear aligners through a fantastic product called SureSmile®. SureSmile® straightens teeth without obnoxious metal braces. We know how uncomfortable metal braces are and how unappealing they can be.

What Are The Benefits of SureSmile®?

SureSmile® by the orthodontist allows you to show off your smile while your teeth are being straitened. Most people won’t even notice that you’re wearing them. They’re also easily removable, which is great when you sit down for a meal. There are no wires that trap food or get in the way when you floss.

What Does SureSmile Treatment Involve?

Dr. Raineri and Dr. DiCosimo will first devise an initial treatment plan. 3D digital images are taken of the jaw. These images allow the orthodontist to move teeth on the screen and view the jaw from all angles. This incredible modern technology foresees how SureSmile® aligners will change facial aesthetics once treatment is finished.

Once planning by the orthodontist is complete, a set of aligners is made uniquely to fit only your mouth. Treatment times vary on each case, but the total number of aligners required is usually between 20 and 29 sets per arch.

Life with SureSmile®

Life with SureSmile® may take a few weeks to get used to. The trays will need to be worn constantly, except while eating and drinking. It is imperative to remove the trays when consuming food or drink to avoid getting trapped between the trays and the teeth, causing tooth decay.

Be aware that there will be a bit of soreness for the first few days after each new tray. This light achy feeling is good news as it proves that your trays are doing their job by moving your teeth into the desired positions.

How long do you wear SureSmile®?

Drs. Raineri and DiCosimoto require you to wear your aligners for the recommended time of 22 hours per day. Not following this order from the orthodontists will cause problems in the overall treatment time.

Most patients experience a very slight lisp right at the beginning of treatment that disappears within a couple of days. If you continue to wear the aligners while talking, your speech will adjust more quickly.

How do I care for my SureSmile®?

Though you don’t wear aligner trays while you eat, they still need to be cleaned. It is best to clean your aligners twice per day by brushing them like you would your teeth. It only takes a couple of minutes to brush with a toothbrush and water gently.

It is best to rinse the aligners each time you take them out to reduce bacteria buildup. And please avoid running them under hot water, as extreme temperatures can warp the plastic.

Why Our Orthodontists Offer SureSmile®

SureSmile® is a routine service by our orthodontists here at Raineri & DiCosimo Orthodontics. We know that the decision to straiten your teeth is a big consideration. We’ve also found that many patients feel uncomfortable with the idea of metal braces and because of this they decide to not move forward with orthodontics. Drs. Raineri and DiCosimo felt that using SureSmile® was a great alternative to metal braces. Since we’ve started offering SureSmile® patient feedback has been extremely positive.

Drs. Raineri and DiCosimo and the entire team are concerned about the way you feel while receiving orthodontics. We want you to feel confident as well as comfortable. These are some of the reasons that we’ve decided to offer SureSmile®.
